On 16 September, Quetzal Art Center, in Vidigueira (PT), opens Echoes of Our Stories, with artists Claudia Martínez Garay, Diana Policarpo, Jennifer Tee, Agnes Waruguru and Müge Yilmaz, curated by Aveline de Bruin and Laurie Cluitmans in close collaboration with Heske ten Cate and Filipa Oliveira.
The artists in this group exhibition weave stories that redefine our past and imagine our futures. They focus on care, hope and transformation, juxtaposing Western scientific rationalism with other forms of knowledge. Oral histories, science fictions, visions and intuitions are foregrounded. Their worlds are created by words, by plant teachers, sentient fungi and practical magic.
