Óscar Faria (1966, Porto, Portugal) is a curator, art critic, journalist, essayist, historian, advisor to MACNA - Nadir Afonso Museum for Contemporary Art, and researcher at CAST. He has a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Contemporary Art History (NOVA FCSH). Master in Artistic Studies - Theory and Art Criticism (Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto) and doctoral student in Contemporary Art History (NOVA FCSH), where he is preparing a thesis on the work of Álvaro Lapa. He has a degree in Journalism (Escola Superior de Jornalismo do Porto). Between 1992 and 2011 he was a journalist and critic at Público newspaper. Artistic director of Sismógrafo, Porto, between 2013 and 2021. He recently curated the exhibitions “Um certo não sei quê – pintura e escultura na coleção de Rui Victorino” (MACNA, Chaves, 2022), "Os atributos do guerreiro" by Eduardo Petersen (Galeria Diferença, Lisbon, 2021), "Metamorfoses" by Manuel João Vieira (Casa das Artes, Porto, 2021), "Lendo Resolve-se: Álvaro Lapa e a Literatura" (Culturgest, Lisbon, 2020), "Lixo de Pinho" by Alexandre Estrela (Sismógrafo, Porto, 2019) and "Nudez - uma invariante" by Pedro Morais (Museu da Cidade - Pavilhão Branco, Lisbon).
